We had to do a number of places on the two days they were open.

This fine building was left a wrecked shell in WW2 and has been wonderfully restored:

The church of St Julien, Tours

We were lucky to see this as, unusually for a cathollc country, it is very rarely open.

We were in Tours at the same time as the Journées de patrimoine- the patrimony days- these happen all over Europe at this time of year and it means that you get into buildings not usually open to the public so we took advantage.

Again the windows got smashed during WW2 so the glass is modern:
